I haven't done a podcast since Thursday night and haven't put up a real post here since Friday. The reason? My home PC. I wanted to do a reformat/reinstall this weekend (I do about four a year; I know, I know). Normally, this takes no more than three hours. However, I mixed in something new: Panda Titanium.
I won't go into the gory details, but I ended up with a machine that would not boot into Windows. I eventually went back and started from scratch. However, instead of Panda, I installed Avast as my anti-virus software. I'll let you know how that turns out.

I tried Avast, but didn't like it as much as AVG. Have you tried AVG, and if so, what about it caused you to stop using it?

I've used AVG for years. I actually bought a renewal for Panda because they offered it very, very cheaply but, alas, it was a .0 release (I should wait for .1, me thinks).
There's nothing wrong with AVG, but I know several people using Avast who are very happy with it. I'm just giving it a whirl. And, BTW, I've started using Opera instead of Firefox since Opera is now free. It has always been my favorite browser but I refused to pay for it.

Matt,
Reformat, reinstall four times a year? Isn't it more than that? Let's be honest with your readers / listeners.

I thought you were using a Linux machine? Why would you need a AV, or to do a F&R quarterly?
Oh, it must be Windows...
