7-11 is ending its 20-year relationship with Citgo, which has the state-run oil company in Venezuela as a parent corporation. While spokespeople for 7-11 said that they have been considering the move for more than a year, look at this:
7-Eleven spokesman Margaret Chabris said that, "Regardless of politics, we sympathize with many Americans' concern over derogatory comments about our country and its leadership recently made by Venezuela's president Hugo Chavez."
How do you like that, Hugo? Asshat. I need to find a local 7-11 and start buying all my gas there.

There are several by my house. As soon as that Citgo sign comes down, I will fill up my greenhouse gas emitting, ozone depleting, big American SUV. Did I mention I will smoke a big cigar and wear a cowboy hat?

Call me a skeptic but this has more to do with the current run up in the price of gasoline than Hugo's blowhard comments. The Citgo contract was about to expire and independent suppliers can compete better when gas prices are high. Not saying the asshat's comments didn't contribute but it probably just tipped the scales.
And Sly, if you really want to stick it to Chavez, you might want to convert that greenhouse gas emitting (SUVs don't deplete the ozone layer unless you are still using an air conditioner from the 70s),gas suzzling, big American SUV to E-85 or Biodiesel. And convince a couple of hundered of your Texas friends to do the same. Else, all of this is just the old "boycott" tactics. It never works in the real world. And as long as you are filling up at rates of 15 miles / gal, Hugo is laughing all the way to the bank!
Why do you think Chavez suddenly got so beligerant over the past few years? Because in past decades Venezuela was dependent on American refineries to convert their liquid gold to gasoline to be gulped up by American consumers. This is no longer the case and Hugo has an emerging world market especially China and India that he can sell his oil to.
So if you want to make a political statement, you can support "American Oil Companies" -whatever that means in todays world. If you want to make a difference, ride a bicycle to work.

Hash, I am trying to rile up enviornmental wackos. You just made my SUV enviormental friendly. It sounds better to be a greenhouse gas producer. I am going to get my sawzall and cut off my catalytic converters and run o2 simulators so the computer will think they are still there. How is that for scorched earth?

Heh ... Sly,
Ya, but think about it. If you do what I suggested, when some green nut comes up to you and tries to rebuke you for driving a gas guzzling SUV, you can look down at them in disdain and say ...
"Sure it guzzles gas, but my gas is made from 100% American made soybean/corn grown in the heartland red states. And the more I guzzle, the more the hard working American farmer makes. What gas does your vehicle use? Liberal, Commie, venezuelan petrol ?"
Wouldn't that royally piss em off? LOL.

Oh and Sly, I forgot to mention that switching to Ethanol wouldn't reduce the amount of Greenhouse gas (CO2) you emit by one iota. So rest assured you will still be the King of greenhouse emissions. :-p

Sweet! Now I have to convince my wife to buy me a new Denali or Escalade. It is a tough sell since she told me my truck payment is her vacation house! But armed with the ammo you have given me I think I have a solid case for a new one.
