The Democrats now have control of the House of Representatives; the fate of the Senate has yet to be determined as of this writing. The Dems did an excellent job of making this election a referendum on President Bush and the war in Iraq. There is no ignoring the skill present in the spin.
One thing I wish to point out this morning is that throwing rocks at those in charge and actually being the person in charge are two entirely different things. I have yet to hear a coherent plan from leading Dems on anything. On Iraq, it seems that they are of the opinion that we should leave. The details, I presume, are forthcoming. Other than that, there doesn't seem to be a plan and it's a little late to formulate potential policy after the start of the year. Remember, we'll be doing this again in two years.
Those of you who consider yourselves moderate Democrats (I believe this is the majority of the party) need to remember that your party is now beholden to the fever swamp radicals who dominate the liberal half of the blogosphere. These are the people who attacked Joe Lieberman for agreeing with President Bush on Iraq, despite the fact he is a staunch liberal on every other issue. The vultures must be fed.

They will follow the old playbook. Cut funding for the war and leave hundreds of thousands to die at the hands of those we have been fighting.
But this time they won't be content to stay in their region. This time they will follow us home.

The difference is that Dems favor immoral human practices. God save the unborn! Kiss Iraq democracy goodbye. Raise the wages regardless of skill or education. Ever see the movie Coma? Its going to happen now except with embryos.

How are Democrats any more beholden to the fever swamp bloggers than Republicans are beholden to wing nut bloggers? How do bloggers come into this at all?
All members of both parties are beholden to their contributors, period. Big oil, the NRA, big tobacco, the Entertainment Industry, Pharmaceuticals, you name it. Those are the people who own Congress. They treat the government like the produce section at Kroger.
They buy a head of Democrat, a fresh Independent and 10 lbs of Republicans at their leisure.
And the attack on Lieberman could in no way be compared to the attack on Max Cleland, correct?

Democrats did not pull off this election alone, indepedents moved the pendulum.
Had the administration presented a plan for the prosecution of the war in Iraq, they may have prevailed.
I think it is clear that the neo-cons have been rejected.
