TOM Cruise is the new “Christ” of Scientology, according to leaders of the cult-like religion.
The Mission: Impossible star has been told he has been “chosen” to spread the word of his faith throughout the world.
And leader David Miscavige believes that in future, Cruise, 44, will be worshipped like Jesus for his work to raise awareness of the religion.
A source close to the actor, who has risen to one of the church’s top levels, said: “Tom has been told he is Scientology’s Christ-like figure.
“Like Christ, he’s been criticised for his views. But future generations will realise he was right.”
Cruise joined the Church of Scientology in the ’80s. Leader L Ron Hubbard claimed humans bear traces of an ancient alien civilisation.
One more stunt like that, Mav, and you'll be flying cargo planes full of rubber dog shit out of Hong Kong.

“Like Christ, he’s been criticised for his views."
And so was Charles Manson. It was Christ's views that made him special, not the criticism.
I have learned a bit about the Messiah. In fact, I have the relevant books here. But I think I would have remembered something like "will jump on Oprah Winfrey's couch".
Posted by: Andrew Brehm at January 23, 2007 05:18 PMTom Cruise suffers from an intoxication of self, stemming from a lack of corporal punishment as a child. [tongue in cheek] If only he had been spanked more vigorously as a child, today he might be avoiding the lunacy of equating himself with Christ. There are monumental distinctions between the persecutions that Christ endured versus the self inflicted stupidity that Cruise is chided for proclaiming. Fortunately, Cruise’s ability to influence is adversely affected each time he speaks.
